Weight Loss SurgeryIt is weight loss surgery right for you?The surgery is the right choice if: -Your body mass index is 40 or more, which means you are about 100 pounds or more above the normal weight, or, your body mass index is in between 35 and 40 with related health conditions. -You are an adult -You are obese for at least five years and unsuccesfuly tried different diet programs several times in the past in order to reduce fat mass. Body mass index (BMI) is the indicator ordinarily used to find out if someone is overweight or obese. It compares a person's weight to his or her height. A normal body mass index is in between 18.5 and 24.9. If your BMI is 25 or more, it means that you are overweight. If this indicator is 30 or more, you are obese. If your BMI is 40 or more, you are considered exceedingly obese. Basicaly, there are three kinds of weight loss surgeries. Restrictive and combined surgery procedures are the most performed. The LAP-BAND system, is a restrictive procedure, since the gastric bypass is a combined procedure. The first reduces how much the stomach can storage while the second works on the stomach and on the reduction of the food absorbtion as well.
